THREE STUMP FORGE
GET TO KNOW ME
My name is Lindsay Brown. I have been interested in Blacksmithing since I could walk. In May of 2017, at the age of 13, I began studying with Paul Brunetta in Grants Pass, Oregon. I spent two months learning the basics in a propane forge, then learned to light and maintain a fire in a coal forge. Ever since I made my first square point, I knew this was the art for me. My primary interest in smithing is making tools and other pieces of functional art. . . and the occasional warhammer. For me, blacksmithing is a window into the past on a very personal level. I connect with every smith experiencing the same struggles and excitement pioneering a new craft, that I experience as I unearth an ancient art. I hope to learn the same techniques of early smiths, and how they overcame creative hurdles, when steel was still a mysterious and rare alloy.
MY TEACHER
Paul Burnetta ,an artist blacksmith, gave me the skills that I needed to forge my dreams into a reality like making my own tools. I am now a journeyman learning from many masters including many members of the C.B.A.
WHAT I DO
As a blacksmith I specialize in traditional hand forging techniques ranging from scrolling and tennoning to forge welding and hammer forging
CUSTOM JOBS
I'll take custom jobs for tools and art ranging from custom size tent stakes to forge welded metal hybrid roses, feel free to send me an email if you have any questions regarding custom orders or anything else for that matter.
THE MATERIALS I USE
Structural steel is my go to for most projects and I will use pure iron if a specific patina is required. I also have experience in both copper forming and bronze smithing and will be glad to try anything new.
